Weekly Duck News  Room 7 NewsWelcome to First Grade!
I am so excited to have each and every one of you as my ducklings. I am looking forward to a wonderful year. Emergency Kits are being collected for each scholar. Please place items in the ziploc bag that I sent home and return it with the listed items asap. All unused items will be returned at the end of the school year. Reading Conference Folders Please make sure your child practices the reader enough to be fluent when they read to a parent volunteer the next day. If they can they will bring home a new book each time. Reading conferences only take place on the days I have parent volunteers. Please make sure your scholar brings their reading conference folder each school day. Practice those sight words to mastery. Once your child has reached fluent mastery, have them turn in their "baggie" in the white basket. I will be testing them individually when I have the time. This may not always be the same day that they return their bag of words. Monday and Tuesday are the most likely days that they will be tested. Spelling: Words are written by your scholar in their agendas on Mondays. Make sure your scholar brings their agenda home every homework night so they are able to do their spelling homework. A practice test will be given on Monday to see if they qualify for the challenge list. Final test will be given on Friday including the dictation sentence. Spirit Day: Please wear your Rhodes Shirt EVERY Friday. We want those puppies to visit our room. University Day: Please wear your University of Oregon shirt EVERY Monday. Bookery Day: is every Tuesday. Please make sure your scholar has their book at school to return or recheck out EVERY Tuesday. Box Tops are a great way to get "free" money for our school. Please clip and send them in taped to a paper with at least 10. Put your scholar's name and their professor's name on the paper as well. Soda Tabs are being collected for the Ronald McDonald House. This is another worthwhile charity and it's an easy way to show those in need that someone cares. Curriculum Areas Duck Shots University Files
